Hej, everyone! I know I know, the title is misleading. I am posting on a Monday but I PROMISE I had this post written up yesterday and just forgot to upload it (oops). ANYWAY, I wanted to start something on my blog called “Cycling Sunday” because it would be a great way to encourage me to both get out and explore more of Copenhagen while ALSO riding my bike.

Bike riding in Copenhagen is truly such an easy way to really immerse oneself in the local culture. Renting a bike was super easy and there are many places around the city to do this such as Swapfiets which is where I rented mine or ABC Bikes where being a DIS student provides a good discount. Every day, rain or shine, you are guaranteed to see an immense amount of people commuting across the city using bikes. Copenhagen is truly one of the most bike-friendly cities and really makes riding bikes throughout the city super enjoyable. After studying the videos DIS has about the “dos and don’ts” of biking in Copenhagen, I decided to give biking a shot. While I was intimidated at first, I quickly got the hang of riding my bike around the city.
Now to Nyhavn, I only have one word: WOW. Okay, I’m kidding. I have more than one word to say about Nyhavn because it truly is that spectacular. Nyhavn, for anyone that doesn’t know, is the picturesque row of colorful houses in Copenhagen that is THE image that comes up when one searches about Copenhagen online. I’m super lucky and Nyhavn is only around a seven-minute bike ride from my apartment so I plan on coming here a lot.
Before I even got to the main attraction, I was stopped by trampolines on the side of the road. You heard right, TRAMPOLINES. ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. FOR ANYONE TO USE. I was in heaven. Since jumping on them, I have decided that the trampolines and biking will make up my workout routine while being abroad.
After getting distracted by the trampolines for some time, I finally made it to Nyhavn and commenced to be truly blown away. It was such a surreal moment being there because it felt as though I had been looking at pictures of this place for so long anticipating my time abroad in Copenhagen and I had FINALLY made it. Words can’t really even begin to describe how awesome that felt.
I had such a great time exploring Nyhavn on my bike and can’t wait to see where my bike takes me on the next edition of “Cycling Sunday!”
